A World War II veteran, Myron Tupper’s engineering education may have been delayed, but was by no means derailed by the draft. In fact, Tupper became the first Walla Walla University graduate to be accepted into General Electric’s engineering management program. A keen, creative mind, Tupper holds more than 20 patents and continues to consult in the field.

It couldn’t be more fitting that a man named Dennis Woodland chose a career in nature. Currently a professor emeritus at Andrews University, Woodland spent 40 years as a professor and curator of botany, in addition to penning a text which has become the standard for studies in systematic botany. 

Tamara Thomas is a professor of emergency medicine at Loma Linda University, where she’s dedicated her career to creative collaboration with her students. Thomas was instrumental in developing one of the first fellowships in international emergency medicine and has traveled across the globe in her work with the university and various non-governmental organizations.

A principal engineer at General Electric, Doug Thomsen has spent 14 years developing cutting-edge combustion technology for the company’s aviation arm, a project that earned him GE’s highest engineering award in 2009. Thomsen continues to fine-tune and adapt this technology for the next generation of GE’s high-efficiency commercial aircraft engines.
